چکیده

Abstract Introduction Neck circumference (NC) and body mass index (BMI) are both markers of obesity established parameters in clinical models for the prediction obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). It is unclear if one parameter superior OSA severity or addition significantly enhances accuracy model. In this study, we evaluated performance NC BMI as predictors moderate to severe (AHI≥15) when adjusted age male gender. Methods A retrospective chart review all diagnostic studies (SS) conducted from November 2017 October 2018 was performed. All SS which were reported normal with a diagnosis included. Three multiple regression constructed AHI≥15 dependent variable following independent variables: + Age Gender (NAG), (BAG), (BNAG). The Akaike information criterion (AIC) used model comparison. that more than 2 AIC units lower considered be Results 112 had AHI<15 193 AHI≥15. NAG, BAG BNAG 333.9, 343.8 334.7 respectively. Discussion NAG lowest AIC. incorporating not different only NC.

[Influence of neck circumference and body mass index on obstructive sleep apnoea severity in males].

INTRODUCTION Obesity and male gender are the main risk factors for the development of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA); however, some epidemiological data has shown that neck circumference (NC) > or = 43 cm is a better predictor of obstructive event frequency than body mass index (BMI). The aim of this study was to assess the relation between NC and BMI on OSA severity in males. MATERIAL AND ME...

Association between Sleep Duration and Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference

Insufficient sleep may lead to adverse cardio-metabolic effects by influencing body weight, blood pressure, and glucose tolerance. We aimed to assess the relation between sleep duration and indices of obesity including body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference in a sample population in central Iran. We selected a sub-sample of 1770 individuals from Isfahan Healthy Heart Program. The data re...

Oral appliance treatment in moderate and severe obstructive sleep apnoea patients non‐adherent to CPAP

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the effect of individually adjusted custom-made mandibular advancement device/oral appliance (OA) in treatment of patients with moderate and severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), who were non-adherent to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. During 2007-2013, 116 patients with moderate (n = 82) and severe (n = 34) OSA non-adhere...

CPAP and survival in moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome and hypoxaemic COPD.

Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) often coexists in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The present prospective cohort study tested the effect of OSAS treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on the survival of hypoxaemic COPD patients. It was hypothesised that CPAP treatment would be associated with higher survival in patients with moderate-to-se...
